Aids can have wax build-up that makes it hard to hear. You may try to remove it on your own but it is better to have an audiologist remove it since he can avoid small wires that could be broken from your own personal attempt. Also small wires in the circuitry of a hearing aid can come loose. When this happens, it is time to get the aids checked. Both of these problems are easily fixed although repairing broken circuitry will require service at the manufacturing company.
Periodically you need to take your hearing aids in for service. One thing that you should request is having the audiologist place the aids under a dome that will remove any excess moisture. It only takes a few minutes and you will be surprised at the difference. This service is free or at least it has been my experience that it is free.
Don't spend your life miserably lost because you can't hear correctly. Life is too short to miss out on any special opportunity.
